Norstan Electronics began in 1974 as a small distributor of electro-mechanical components. The company's founder, Dennis P. Stangenberg, has spent his entire career in the aerospace industry. When he began Norstan, he wanted to meld his first-hand experience in OEM, component manufacturing and distribution into a company responsive to customer's needs. The mandate was to be the best, not the biggest. It is this understanding which is the foundation of Norstan in responding to the varied needs of its customers. |

In the beginning there was a natural move for providing relays and related products to Norstan's customer. Mr. Stangenberg had previously worked for Gianni Voltex and Babcock Relays, both manufacturers of hi-rel relays. In addition to his component manufacturing understanding, Mr. Stangenberg had worked at General Dynamics and later in distribution at Zeus West. This rounded background provided the groundwork to build a responsive service to Norstan's customer. From 1975 onward, Norstan has continuously built its product offering. Norstan's product line includes the highest quality hi-rel military/aerospace manufacturing lines available. We prefer to think of our success in terms of maturity in distribution as opposed to growth and expansion. |

During its first eight years of business, Norstan outgrew its original location and, in 1982, bought a new building and moved to its present address. In 1990, more space was required to meet the demand for larger inventory. The company then expanded into a new section of their building that had formerly been subleased. Today, Norstan Electronics occupies over 20,000 square feet in the Carnegie Square Business Plaza in Santa Ana's booming industrial corridor. |

Norstan has assembled a strong management team and work force that understands the requirements and demands of the aerospace industry. From the beginning there has been continuous continuity in the accounting group, with the services of Clyde Sopp Financial Services. Mr. Joe Wright, who has been with Norstan since 1985, heads the operations group. Working with him is our Sales Manager, Bonnie Peterson, who has been with Norstan since 1991 and who has over 30 years experience in the industry. The average tenure of employees at Norstan is almost 9 years. This has provided a very stable atmosphere to service its customer. Top |
